Advancing Family Planning successfully finalized in Senegal

Samasha with support from Health Policy Plus (HP+) held the Joint Accountability workshop on advancing Family planning from 23rd to 26th August 2021 at Residence Mamoun in Dakar Senegal. The aim of the workshop was to strengthen the capacity of Civil society leaders, Government, and other Family Planning stakeholders including youth ambassadors in fostering joint accountability for family planning especially as countries develop FP2030 commitments.

The objectives of the workshop were;

  • To Strengthen knowledge and skills around accountability within health systems, specifically in relation to advancing family planning
  • To Examine instances of successful intervention or advocacy efforts to address specific accountability gaps
  • To Select a priority family planning issue to explore through an accountability mapping exercise and follow up assessment
  • To Draft Joint Action Plan for follow-up.

The workshop brought together 20 participants from different categories namely Civil Society Organization representatives, Government representatives, youth representatives, and development partners

At the end of the workshop, participants developed a draft Joint accountability action plan for family Planning, networks of Civil Society Organization leaders was created and capacity of Civil Society Organizations and family planning partners was built and strengthened to advance Family Planning.
